This is a list of services and information sources that families and autistic people may find helpful. Please do check directly with the service provider for details and eligibility. Please note, many services are operating altered opening or service times during the pandemic.

You should always ensure that any service, activity or therapy that you are considering for yourself or your child / young person is appropriate to their needs and that the provider is a fit and proper person to deliver such services.

Support & Information

Surrey Local Offer – web portal offering access to local services for families with a child with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND)

 

Surrey Portage – support for children with significant developmental needs under 3.5 years from Surrey County Council.  Tel: 0300 200 1004

 

Family Voice Surrey – parent representation group for families that include a child or young person with SEN or a disability.

 

Surrey County Council Childrens’ Services – Single Point of Access. Advice and guidance for residents and people who work with children in Surrey about where and how to find the appropriate support for children and families.

 

Mustard Seed Autism Trust – a charity that offers professional and practical support to families living with autism.

Educational Support

SEND Advice Surrey (formerly SSIASS) – phone and email support provided by SEND trained advisors; face to face support by trained advisors and volunteers
and attendance at meetings, training and events (where permitted). Tel: 01737 737300.

 

SOS!SEN – Hampton-based charity to support families with SEN issues. Tel: 020 8538 3731 .

 

IPSEA – National charity offering parents support on educational issues for children with special needs and disabilities. Tel: 01799 582030.

Activities for children and young people with autism

Parent programmes and workshops

Please check the NAS Surrey Branch newsletter for workshops and talks offered by the NAS Surrey Branch and NAS Surrey Services.

 

NAS Surrey Service – Stepping Up for Autism Courses – 4-session course for parents of newly diagnosed autistic children.
The NAS Surrey Service also runs half-day workshops for parents of children and young people with a diagnosis or awaiting diagnosis.

Adult services

Surrey Autism Partnership Board – Information, support and services for people with an Autism Spectrum Condition in Surrey. Tel: 01737 737132.

 

Surrey County Council Adult Social Care.

Mental Health Support

CYP Havens in Guildford Epsom Redhill and Staines. They a safe space for children and young people who need emotional wellbeing support. NB this is not autism-specific. 7 Ward St Guildford (just off North Street).

 

Adults Safe Havens run by Surrey and Borders Partnership Trust. They are located in Aldershot, Epsom, Guildford, Redhill and Woking.

Employment Services

EmployAbility – a service from Surrey Choices for people with learning disabilities/ASDs. Tel: 01483-519690,

Support for carers

Action for Carers Surrey – support for adult and young carers of anyone with a disability or specials needs. Includes advice about funding and benefits. Tel: 0303 040 1234.
